What are the Email options available to me?
  Email is one of the webs most useful tools.The Instant transmission of text and images has changed the way individuals and business communicate forever.

With a morecambe Net account you can have one of two options in place, either email forwarding or a POP 3 mail account



Email Forwarding? FREE WITH MORECAMBE .NET
  Email forwarding is the process where by any email received for your domain name is forwarded to the email of your choice. Usually the email address you receive when you sign up with your ISP. Internet Service Provider


 

POP 3 Mail Account? FREE WITH MORECAMBE .NET
  When someone sends an email to an address at your domain it will get stored in a unique POP3 mail box. When you collect the email you are doing nothing more than instructing your mail software to go to a specific location (your mail directory) and download the files that are in that directory.

In order to do this the email software needs three pieces on information. These are the location of the servers that the files are held on, the correct directory on that server and the password.

The first piece of information that the mail software will need is the address of the mail server. This will be:

mail.yourdomain.whatever

To put this in context if one wanted to pick up the email for the domain www.exampledomain.com the mail server one would need to access would be:

mail.exampledomain.com

Once your mail software has got to the mail server it has to ask the for the unique directory that contains your mail. Your mail software does this by giving the mail server the username for the account. This will be the username that we supplied you.

You have to remember that there will be a different username for every POP3 mail box you have ordered because each one is a unique directory so it has to have its own name. The password however,may be the same.

The final piece of information that you need to supply your mail software is the password. This is because the mail server will check that you have the authority to down load the email files and it does by requesting the password.

All that you will need to do to pick up the mail will be to create a new mail account and give these three pieces of information.

Morecambe Net does not provide outgoing mail services. Outgoing email is handled by your dialup ISP.

Due to the prevalence of spam email, some ISP's are refusing to relay messages that don't come from their domain. If you get an error message saying "relaying denied", then your ISP has put these measures in place. Most ISPs, however will be prepared to insert your domain into their list of allowable domains for mail exchange, thereby enabling you to send mail using their SMTP server.
